Last week I was killing time waiting for a bus in Lewes (I'm still get used to this one-an-hour country lark!) in the wonderful Flint on the High Street. I spotted this little book, written and curated by Siobhan Wall, and knew I needed it my life. It is simply superb. When I got home I made a cup of tea and sat and looked through the whole thing. It made me want to hop on the train straight to the city. When I lived in Brixton the thing the struck me about London is you never knew what was round every corner, there are pockets of serene beauty everywhere and this is like the bible for that!
The book covers over 100 places off the beaten track of the city streets - cafes, museums, parks, churches or just peaceful benches in a beautiful spot. There's even recommendations of places to stay and I'll definitely be taking up the recommendations very soon.
An absolute gem of a pocket sized book. And infact makes a perfect Valentines present or plan. How about going and exploring some of those places this weekend? Recuperate, relax and explore. What a perfect way to spend Valentine's.
